Fibroids: Silent Killer

What many people don’t know is that fibroids can be caused by the food we eat, stress, and even the products we use.

“The healthcare system is infected with racism, which means that conditions that affect the Black community are ignored just like other issues. It is up to us to take a stand!”

Fibroids?
Never heard of it?
Come and allow me to share this knowledge.

What Are Fibroids?

Fibroids are commonly known as tumors of the female reproductive system. Fibroids are also known as uterine myomas, leiomyomas, or fibromas, which are basically compact tumors that are made of smooth muscle cells and fibrous connective tissue that develop in the uterus. Fibroids are usually pale in color, more firm and dense in texture. They may range from the size of a pea to the size of a softball or small grapefruit. Whether we know it or not, fibroids are of epidemic proportions among Black women and yet we are not hearing about this issue on TV, in newspapers, social media, magazines, or health clinics. Fibroids tend to be larger and occur at an earlier age in African-Americans. If left untreated or diagnosed when too late, this condition leads to heavy and painful menstruation, painful sexual intercourse, urinary frequency, can hinder pregnancy and may even lead to a hysterectomy.

What Causes Fibroids?

What many people don’t know is that fibroids can be caused by the food we eat, stress, and even the products we use! Crazy, but true. Many factors can contribute to fibroids. For example, the chemicals that make polyurethane or latex condoms cause chlamydia, pelvic inflammatory disease, sterility, cancer and endometriosis. Spermicide gel in condoms can also cause cancer along with the inner powder coating causing cysts, cancer, and tumors. Radiation also has a big impact on fibroids (x-rays, ultrasounds, microwave ovens, computers, cellular devices, etc). Synthetic chemicals in cough suppressants and commercial deodorants can get into blood and hold waste in the uterus. Skin bleaching, synthetic hair relaxers (perms), douches, vaginal deodorants, bleached sanitary napkins and tampons causes fibroids as well. When it comes to super absorbent tampons and pads , what the companies don’t want us to know is that they actually pull the moisture out of vaginal skin causing cracked skin and skin diseases. Don’t get me started on artificial nails, but artificial nails serve as a danger to us as well. The artificial nail glue actually enters the blood and results in deterioration of cells (uterine). Last but not least, all the unhealthy foods we may consume – whether it’s fast food or “junk food” – can contribute to fibroids. As a community, we have to be more aware of what we put in our bodies. Your body is not a trash can; it’s a temple.

What’s Next?: What Steps To Take

The good news is, simple solutions like eating healthy can help decrease fibroids. Dark leafy greens have nutrients that can aid in easing fibroid and PMS symptoms. Other greens such as kale and mustard greens are great choices as well. Exercise and stress management are also key in easing the pain of fibroids and PMS. Many people are taking their health into their own hands by seeking natural remedies, holistic health coaching and turning to spiritual practices to manage stress (which can further aggravate fibroids). Let’s take a stand as the Black Community! Our health matters!

Remember, holistic health is the key of life.

Peace & Blessings.

  1. Hi, you blog has been very informative. I know birth control is a huge factor as well, along with plan b contraceptive. Estrogen overload. Doctors know this and won’t tell you this but will continue to put you on the very thing that contributes to their development. However, once you get off them and cleanse your liver with milk thistle and dandelion for three months it gets rid of the excess estrogen that is stored in the liver to shrink them. Meanwhile, AC vinegar and blackstrap strap molasses, unsulphered a tablespoon of both each day in warm or hot water will help shrink them and no dairy and very little red meat. It’s loaded with hormones to fuel tguer growth.

  2. Hi Jessica
    Thanks for sharing
Why did you write “Many people are taking their health into their own hands by seeking natural remedies, holistic health coaching and turning to spiritual practices to manage stress (which can further aggravate fibroids)”
I’m not clear on that part, Can you explain?
Following that you wrote holistic health is the way to go? In which I agree. Also, women’s trauma, (even childhood) unstable emotions, hatred, envy etc. Feeds the fibroids along with diet like you mention. It takes alot of discipline to dissolve them. First starting with the mental state coupled with healing on a cellular level releasing stagnate hurt and pain, changing diet using herbs to assist. Its alot involved in healing from any Dis-ease. The solution is here, its the execution that is not being followed. Thank you for your time.
    Best,
    Titia
